Experimental Investigation of the Partial Discharge Feature with the Air Gap Model in Oil-paper Insulation

Abstract
In order to investigate the partial discharge (PD) characteristic of the oil-paper insulation of the converter transformer in HVDC power transmission systems, the typical defect model-air gap discharge model in oil-paper insulation is designed. For the same sample, PDs are measured and analyzed with electrical pulse current method in accordance to IEC 60270-2000 recommendation under AC, DC and the damped alternating current (DAC) voltages, respectively. Some characteristic parameters of the PD in air gap of oil-paper insulation including the partial discharge inception voltage (PDIV), the partial discharge extinction voltage (PDEV), PD pulse level, pulse current shape, and repetition rate of the partial discharge are investigated comparatively . All these will be helpful for the PD monitoring on-line and insulation evaluation of the converter transformer.关键词
