Abstract
The Birthmark is a short story written by Nathaniel Hawthorne,who is a famous American novelist of the 19th century.The story is unfolded by a ＂birthmark＂,and the use of symbolism makes it mysterious.The thesis tries to analyze the symbolic meaning of the ＂birthmark＂,trying to reveal the sin of science and reason to warn the modern people.关键词
