Attitude Determination Algorithm Based on Gyroscopes and Star Sensor

Abstract
an integrated attitude determination algorithm based on gyroscopes and star sensor is presented in this paper. First, satellite attitude is described with quaternion to avoid the error caused by incorrectly selecting state and measurement vector. Then the error sources of gyroscopes and star sensor are thoroughly analyzed and the quaternion and gyroscopes error are adopted as state variables, by which system state equations are well constructed. Measurement matrix is constructed by using measurements from star sensor as system measurements. And the measurement equations are set up by the new mathematic transformation. Finally, the attitude determination algorithm is developed by means of extended Kalman filtering. The simulation results show that this algorithm can compensate gyroscope drift effectively with high accuracy even by use of moderate precision gyroscopes. Meanwhile, it also demonstrates that some factors, such as measurement noise of star sensor, may influence the attitude determination accuracy in some degree.关键词
