Abstract
With the application of Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC), the transmission capability of power grid and system stability are enhanced effectively. However, the operation condition and control strategy of SSSC complicates the transient process of fault power grid and has adverse impacts on the performance of traditional protection. For this reason, the new protection principles for the series compensated lines with SSSC should be studied further. In this paper, the improved wavelet packet' entropy is used to analyze the frequency characteristics of the fault current at both ends. The results indicate that the wavelet packet entropy of the frequency components at both ends of the line is obviously different when fault occurs before and after SSSC or in external area. The characteristics of the series compensated lines are verified by simulation and then a scheme of two-end transient protection for the series compensated lines with SSSC is proposed. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme is not affected by fault position, fault type, fault inception angle, series compensation degree and fault resistance, and has good adaptability.关键词
