Abstract
As a basic support form in structures, roller bearing has been designed to transfer only the vertical load from the upper structure and freely move in the horizontal direction to release the thermal stresses due to temperature variation. The performance of the bearing support depends on to some extend the rolling friction behaviour of the bearing support. However, the research on this topic is very limited. This paper presents the experimental investigation on the rolling friction behaviour of one - way roller bearing subjected to vertical load,horizontal lateral load,and combined vertical and horizontal lateral load. The effects of vertical load and horizontal lateral load on the rolling friction coefficients have been studied. The test results also showed that the value of rolling friction force of the roller bearing subjected to combined vertical and horizontal lateral load is larger than the sum of those subjected to vertical load and horizontal lateral load separately. This study contributes to the design of structures with this kind of bearing support.关键词
