摘要

Abstract

Improvement is made aiming at the unsatisfied effect of wavelet transform encoding algorithm SPIHT in low bit-ratecircumstance. The SPECK algorithm is used in the improved algorithm for low frequency coefficient, and only when there is significant coefficient appearing in high frequency coefficient sector in current threshold value then the SPIHT algorithm commences the operation. Moreover, the SPIHT algorithm has been modified as well. Experiments indicate that the peak signal to noise ratio PSNR of the reconstructed image derived from modified algorithm outperforms that of standard SPIHT.
