摘要

Abstract

This paper presents a new mild steel damper with parabolic shape,which has the characteristics of all the section yielding at the same time along the length direction.According to the related mechanics theory,the design formula was deduced.Quasi-static tests were conducted.The results show that the dampers possess the stable hysteretic capacity,sufficient plastic deformation capacity,and effectively avoid stress concentration phenomenon.The proposed damper is a kind of ideal energy dissipation component.Strain distribution and hysteretic capacity are studied by finite element software and the results agree with those obtained from theory and experimental research.
