Abstract
Objective To study the clinical characteristics of far lateral lumbar disc herniation (FLLDH) and the appropriate operation way. Methods Thirteen patients with far lateral disc herniation were divided into two types by the place of herniated disc, that was foraminal disc herniation and extraforaminal disc herniation. The patients with foraminal disc herniation were treated with posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) while the patients with extraforaminal disc herniation were treated with intertransverse approach discectomy (IAD). Results All cases were observed for 6 to 24 months (average 18 months). Clinical outcomes were assessed by Macanab and Visual Analogue Score ( VAS). The postoperative overall excellent and good rate wre 92.31%. The average preoperative leg pain VAS score was 8 points, 1.4 points after surgery, low back pain VAS score was 1.6 points before surgery, 1 points after surgery. Conclusions The patients with far lateral lumbar disc herniation should be treated with different operations according to its types, choosing a appropriate operative way is a key to get satisfactory result.关键词
