Numerical simulation of dynamic aerodynamic characteristics of a morphing aircraft

Abstract
In this paper, a morphing aircraft is designed firstly based on the references, and the unsteady and pseudo-steady aerodynamic characteristics are simulated numerically by a steady/unsteady flow solver based on the dy namic unstructured grids developed by the authors. The transonic inviscid flow is considered only in the simulations. The effect of folding and unfolding speed is studied and compared with each other. The numerical results show that the unsteady aerodynamic characteristics of the morphing aircraft change rapidly, because the shock wave on the upper surface of the morphing wing moves forward/backward during the process of wing folding/unfolding. Therefore, the design of the flight control law should be paid more attention for morphing aircrafts.关键词
