摘要

Abstract

Objectiner:To evaluate the effects of Foreus Fatigue Resistant Device followed by fixed appliances for single-phase comprehensive treatment of Class Ⅱ Division Ⅰ malocclusion at the pubertal growth spurt. Method: Forfty-six Class II patients were enrolled in the trial and allocated to 2 groups (23 patients were treated consecutively with Forsus followed by fixed appliances and 23 patients were treated consecutively with headgear followed by fixed appliances and Class II elastics. Lateral cephalograms were taken before therapy and after the end of comprehensive therapy. Longitudinal observations of a matched group of 21 subjects with untreated Class Ⅱ malocclusions were compared with the 2 treated groups. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used for statistical comparisons. Result: Significantly greater improvement in sagittal maxillo-mandibular relationships was found in the headgear group. The increase in effective mandibular length (Co-Gn) was significantly greater in both treatment groups when compared with natural growth changes in the Class Ⅱ controls. Retrusion of maxillary incisors,mesial movement of mandibular incisors and molars were significant in the two treated group,especially in the headgear group. The treatment time was shorter in the Forsus group, compared with headgear group. Conclusion: The Forsus FRD is an acceptable substitute for headgear and Class Ⅱ elastics for noncompliant patients.
