摘要
Abstract
Based on ＂mercy＂ in Bible and an analysis of the degeneration of the protagonist of A Mer-cy,Jacob,from a man of a merciful and kind heart into a cruel slave owner,an elaboration was made of the meaning of＂mercy＂in the novel.Morrison’s writing motives in entitling the novel with ＂mercy＂ were pointed out： to awaken kind nature deep in man,to eliminate discrimination and to create peace and harmony.关键词
