Abstract

Bambusa emeiensis of 1 to 6-year-old was as the raw material and phenol formaldehyde resin(PF) was as the adhesive to prepare bamboo scrimber. The influences of bamboo's age on physical mechanical, natural decay resistance and mould inhibitor properties of bamboo scrimber were investigated. The results showed that the basic density increased with the increment age; mechanical properties strengthened with the increasing age, but it didn't change much; natural decay resistance of Bambusa emeiensis bamboo scrimber reached to the high anti-decay level, while bamboo age had not significant influences on the natural decay resistance; all the 1 to 6-years-old bamboo scrimber test materials entire surface were inspected for mold growth after 4 weeks. This phenomenon showed that untreated bamboo scrimber was more prone to mildew and bamboo age had not significant influences on the natural mold-resistant performance of bamboo scrimber. Based on comprehensive consideration of the physica mechanical and nature durability properties, in bamboo forest cultivation, Bambusa emeiensis as a kind of structural material appropriate cutting age should be 3 to 4-year-old.
