Intake Port Design for Low-pressure Air-assisted In-cylinder Direct Injection Gasoline Engine

Abstract
Taking a 2. 0 L four-valve port fuel injection gasoline engine as prototype, the low-pressure air-assisted direct injection gasoline engine and its intake ports were developed and optimized by using CFD simulation technology combined with steady flow test method. The 3-D simulation model of the intake port was built with CFD software, and calculation and analysis were carried out then. The calculation values were in a good agreement with the steady flow test results, and the data showed that the intake port provided low intake capacity and high tumble motion. Analysis of 3-D flow field showed that there was gas retention phenomenon in some areas. After structure optimization of the intake port with CFD software according to the requirements of air-flow motion characters inside the cylinder, the tumble motion was weakened by increasing the cross-sectional area nearby the valve stem to improve its intake capacity, which also reduced the gas retention phenomenon.关键词
