Abstract
Using information entropy, this paper analyzes the temporal and spatial variation of land use structure in Guangdong Province from 1996 to 2008. The results are as follows: Firstly, the information entropy and equilibrium degree went up and the dominance degree went down year by year. That reflects that the disorder of the land use system was strengthening, while the structure weakening, and that the types of land utilization tended to be equilibrium during the study period. Secondly, spatial variation in the information entropy of the 21 cities was obvious. The entropy gradually reduced from the coast to the inland mountains. And there was large difference among the information entropies in the four economic regions of Guangdong Province in 2008. The largest information entropy was in the east region, the second in the west region, the third in the Pearl River Delta region, and the smallest in the north mountainous region. From the correlation analysis through SPSS, conclusions could be drawn as follows: Firstly, the reduction of cultivated land, forest land and unused land, and the increase of garden plots, other agricultural land, residential quarters, industrial and mining land and land for transportation directly made the change of the information entropy. Secondly, the economic development of Guangdong Province, especially the rapid development of the secondary and tertiary industries, was the basic cause of the increase of information entropy. Thirdly, the increase of total population and the raising of urbanization level were closely related with the increase of information entropy.关键词
