Abstract
With surfactant research was heavily focused on performance, the area of surfactant material is grounded in the disciplines of cost efficiency and product economics. The relative costs of the key intermediates fatty alcohols and detergent alkylates are the foundation of their competitiveness. Investment in surfactant intermediates has been significant in the past 10 years as producers have sought to take advantage of changing economics arising from the end of the low cost petroleum era. This development is balanced by a striking build-up of chemical facilities in regions rich with oil production. The competition for surfactant markets will continue to be affected by how market players interpret events taking place along the surfactant supply chain. Examining these developments along the surfactant supply chain is a useful exercise for generating a surfactant outlook.关键词
