摘要

Abstract

2,3- butanediol is a kind of chemical material and liquid fuel with huge value and is applied widely. It can be produced by many microbes through metabolic processes, but its yield varies significantly. In this paper, the production progress of 2, 3 -butanediol through fermentation was reviewed from several aspects as follows; fermentation strains, metabolic pathway, substrate, separation and extraction methods; the limiting factors during 2,3- butanediol production were also discussed. It was pointed out that the breeding of ideal strains and the kinetics study of certain enzymes in the metabolic pathways should be targeted at to optimize the fermentation process. Then the application of the derivatives from 2,3- butanediol should be further explored to decrease the cost and increase the yield.
