摘要

Abstract

Eleven national flood storage polders of total capacity of 83.7×108m3 are located within the Dongting four-inlets region,and they are used for flood diversion from Yangtze River and for control of water levels at Jinjiang and Chenglingji.With the Three Gorges project in operation,flood control ability of this region is improved,now the activation of these polders is not needed against a 1954 flood,a totally different situation from that in 1954 when polders were repeatedly activated,and the neighboring polders provide physical conditions for flood regulation.A study on changes in the river-lake relation and the safety condition and flood diversion of river channel flood passing under the activation four-inlets polders,shows the feasibility and necessity of polders regulations.Such regulations are crucial to flood control and social economic development in the Dongting area.
