Study on steady flows of Francis turbine with long and short blades by CFD simulation

Abstract
Three-dimensional turbulent flows through turbine runner with long and short blades of a Francis turbine HLA351 were numerically simulated with FLUENT that uses the Reynolds equations and a realizable k-ε turbulent model in a general coordinate frame.The results show that the details of full-passage flow can be well predicted,and that hydraulic performance of the runner with long and short blades is better in terms of its velocity and pressure distributions.These results would be useful for hydraulic design and optimization of Francis turbine.关键词
