Comparative Analysis on Tree Height Measured By Total Station and Vertex IV Altimeter

Abstract
S352 Total Station made by Southern mapping company and Vertex IV Altimeter were used in this paper to measure eight coniferous trees from three directions.Result shows that the average tree height measured by total station is consistent with that measured by Vertex IV Altimeter.The relative error of total average tree height measured by Vertex IV Altimeter with total station is less than 1.07%.The RMSE（root mean square error）is less than 0.134m when measured by Vertex IV Altimeter,indicating that the tree height measured by Vertex IV Altimeter is stable.However,the RMSE measured by the total station is much smaller,with better stability.关键词
