Influences of complex loading mode on mechanical behaviors of high concrete face rockfill dams

Abstract
The high concrete face rockfill dams (CFRDs; usually adopt complex construction mode, that is, tilling of zoned dam body and placing of concrete face slabs in stages. Thus, the high CFRDs exhibit complex mechanical behaviors. Based on a high CFRD to be constructed, the 3D nonlinear finite element method was applied to the structural simulation under complex loading conditions. The results indicate that the stress and deformation behaviors of the dam under complex loading conditions are reasonable. Compared with the behaviors of full section filling of dam body, the maximum settlement of the dam has a decrease of about 12% . The first stage face will be convex to the upstream at the completion stage under the placing of the concrete face slabs in two stages, which will cause separation between the concrete slab and the cushion layer, and it should be noticed.关键词
