Effect of technological condition on morphology and hardness of CaMgSn phase in magnesium alloy

摘要

Abstract

With considering the great effect of the morphology of CaMgSn phase on the mechanical properties of Mg-Sn-Ca series alloys,the influence of slow cooling,rapid cooling and aging treatment on the morphology of CaMgSn phase was studied.The effect of different processing conditions on the microstructure,phase structure and hardness of Mg-3Sn-2Ca-3Cu alloy was comparatively analyzed with optical microscope,scanning electron microscope,X-ray diffractometer and microhardness tester,respectively.The analysis results show that the microstructure after slow cooling is mainly composed of α-Mg,CaMgSn,CuMg2,(Cu,Ca)Mg2 and Mg2Sn phases,and the CaMgSn phase is of coarse rod shape.After rapid cooling and aging treatment,the morphology of CaMgSn phase has an obvious change,and changes into the spheroid-like shape after aging for 48 h.After aging treatment,the microhardness of the alloy increases obviously,and reaches the maximum value of 77 HV after aging for 48 h.With prolonging the aging time,it is found that the hardness decreases and the second phases are detached from the matrix.
