Abstract

Based on analysis of the data measured in dry seasons from 2005 to 2010 in the Modaomen Channel, the concepts of the first day of fresh water extraction and the last day of fresh water extraction are proposed. The relationships between the first day of fresh water extraction and the day with the maximum tidal range, and between the last day of freshwater extraction and the day with the minimum tidal range, are discussed. The results show the following: According to the day with the maximum tidal range, the first day of fresh water extraction has a delaying trend month by month in dry seasons, and the runoff for salinity control should generally arrive at Sixianjiao the day before the first day of fresh water extraction in the tidal period. There is a complex relationship between the last day of fresh water extraction and the day with the minimum tidal range. It is suggested that the salinity control time should be adjusted according to the existing conditions, and the runoff for salinity control should arrive at Sixianjiao two or three days before the last day of fresh water extraction in the tidal period and last about two days.
