Abstract

One-year-old Malus hupehensis grown in a pot were used in the present study to explore the effects of different sand/soil ratio(clay with no sand,sand/soil ratio=20%,40%,60%,80%,pure-sand)on growth and 15 N absorption,utilization,and loss using 15↑N trace technique.Results showed that there were different values of plant growth,15↑N absorption and utilization under different treatments.The value of plant growth(height,stem diameter and total dry weight)was highest(37.54 cm,3.457 mm and 30.46 g) under 20% treatment,while the total nitrogen and 15↑N uptake amount were greatest(189.31 mg and 32.39 mg) under 60% treatment,the value of plant growth and 15↑N absorption and utilization under 20% to 60% treatments were higher than that of clay with no sand and high sediment concentration(sand/soil ratio60%) treatments.The 15↑N Ndff and distribution of aerial part was higher than that of underground portion among different treatments.The Ndff of each part of plant becomes higher with the increases of sand/soil ratio under 20% to 80% treatments.Sand/soil ratio was negatively correlated with the residue level of 15↑N in soil,the loss of 15↑N showed a rising trend along with the increase of sand/soil ratio.The plant growth and nutrient uptake and utilization were closely related to soil texture.The appropriate sand/soil ratio was beneficial to the growth and nitrogen absorption and utilization,while higher ratio aggravated the nitrogen loss in soil.
