Correlation of serum levels of cystatin C and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein with coronary atherosclerotic plaque burden

Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship of serum levels of cystatin C (CysC) and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) with coronary atherosclerotic plaque burden (CAPB). Methods A total of 120 patients who were suspected of coronary heart disease were included and screened by coronary angiography. The severity of coronary artery disease was evaluated by Gensini cumulative index. The extent of lesions was evaluated by Sullivan's methods; the correlation analysis was used to find the relationship of CysC and hs-CRP with Gensini score and CAPB. Results The serum level of CysC was significantly higher in unstable angina group than in stable angina group (P<0.05). The serum levels of CysC and hs-CRP were closely related to CAPB in univariate and multivariate analysis (P<0.05). Conclusion The serum levels of CysC and hs-CRP are significantly related to CAPB, and may be used as indicators for acute coronary events.关键词
