摘要

Abstract

Recently, the double-cladding photonic-crystal fiber (DC-PCF) has been paid increasing attention due to its novel optical characteristics. Comparing the structure characteristic and pumping method of DC-PCF with those of polymer double-cladding fiber (DCF), it can be said that DC-PCF can possess a much larger numerical aperture than polymer DCF, but DC-PCF that requires side pumping and connection by tapered multi-mode fiber is unsuitable for constructing amplifiers. The research indicates that large numerical aperture in the photonic crystal fiber can effectively reduce the effect of non-linear optics in high power amplifiers.
