Abstract
Objective To detect the changes of brain - derived neurotrophic factor( BDNF )in the development and treatment of depression, and to explore its feasibility in the diagnosis and assess of curative effects on depression. Methods Among the 42 patients who were clinically diagnosed depression, 13 ones were severe and 15 ones were moderate. They received the conventional antidepressant treatment for 6 w. Before and after the treatment, the serum BDNF levels were measured by the method of enzyme linked immunosorbent assay( ELISA ) ,and were compared with those of 88 people without depression( control group ). Results Compared with the control group,the serum BDNF level of patients with moderate and severe depression significantly decreased( P <0. 01 ). There was a negative correlation between the degree of depression and the BDNF level. After the treatment, the BDNF levels of patients with moderate and severe depression significantly increased( P < 0. 01 ). Among the patients with significant improvement in clinical symptoms, their serum BDNF level increased in various degrees, compared with that before the treatment. Conclusion Serum BDNF level can be regarded as a reference index for the clinical diagnosis of depression and particularly therapeutic reaction.关键词
