Abstract
Objective To compare the diagnostic performance of breast microcalfication between the images with lossless and lossy techniques of JPEG 2000. Methods Fifty-five cases (25 with single cluster of microcalcification, 30 controls) were selected by one radiologist not participating in the image reviewing. With the JPEG 2000 wavelet-based image compression algorithm, all images were compressed to 2 levels: lossless and lossy 20:1. Two radiologists evaluated the delectability of clustered microcalcification with two kinds of compressed images. The results were analyzed and compared by using the method of receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curves. Results ROC analysis results showed no significant difference in observer performance between the lossless and lossy compressed images. Conclusion The performance of lossy compressed images is equal to that of lossless compressed images in the interpreting the breast images with microcalcifications.[ChineseMedical Equipment Journal,2011,33(1):67-68]关键词
