Abstract

To the security issue of fish shoal in offshore fish cage, a monitoring method based on multi-beam underwater acoustic technique is employed. Integrating with the techniques of signal processing, GPRS wireless data communication and serial interface communication, a multi-beam underwater acoustic monitoring system for breeding fish in offshore fish cage is designed. It takes only five second to accomplish an entire cage scanning. Detecting data are delivered to the user monitoring system immediately upon acquisition, which improves the real-time property of the system. As its circuit is improved, the system structure is simplified. Both the volume and the cost of the monitor is reduced. Tests show that the monitoring system is simplified, easy placement and robust under different environmental conditions. It is well performed in real-time monitoring fish in offshore fish cage.
