Abstract

In view of the environment friendly and strongly alkaline behavior of L-Arginine, it was used as chemical absorbent for CO2 capture. By using bubble absorption and heating regenerative approach, the investigation of CO2 absorption-desorption cycles in aqueous L-Arginine solution was conducted, particularly the absorption liquid with 3% piperazine. The results demonstrate that the aqueous L-Arginine solution possesses good CO2 absorption capacity (about 0.83mol CO2/mol Arginine) at ambient temperatures and pressures. Initial desorption temperature is low, only about 80℃ The absorption capacity of the absorption liquid containing piperazine or sodium hydroxide is superior to that containing nothing. Among them, the aqueous L-Arginine solution containing piperazine is the most suitable for CO2 trapping with the highest desorption rate at 80 ℃. After ten adsorption-desorption cycles, the CO2 amount of desorption is basically uninfluenced and average desorption efficiency is about 100%.
