Abstract

According to the characteristics of bentonite from Xinyang, the method of wet-way was used for purification. The experiment tested the effects of sodium hexametahposphate, liquid-solid ratio of bentonite slurry, stirring time, and sedimentation time on the purification of bentonite, respectively. The effect of purification was tested by the methods of blue adsorbed and X-ray diffraction photographs. The results showed that the best conditions for purification was when the concentration of dispersant was 0.125%, liquid-solid ratio was 12, the stirring time was 80min, and the sedimentation time was 120min. The experiment showed that the purity of bentonite can improve from 61% to over 90% after purification.
