摘要

Abstract

Foreign language teaching and learning in China has been neglecting the role of cross-cultural communication(CCC) in facilitating language acquisition.This study explores the current situation of CCC capacity building in foreign language teaching and learning by investigating the awareness of and attitude toward the CCC of university students majoring in foreign languages,the pattern of teaching CCC by foreign language teachers from both China and abroad,and the understanding of the Chinese culture on the part of language teachers from abroad.The paper concludes that to improve the CCC capacity of university students majoring in foreign languages,universities are expected to offer more courses on CCC,provide various activities for students,improve the CCC capability of foreign language teachers,for example,provide language teachers from abroad with relevant in-service training courses,and reform the classroom teaching mode and method.
