Ecological Footprint Model Based on Ecosystem Services Theory

Abstract
Ecological footprint model is a valid approach to measure sustainable development. This study designs an improved ecological footprint model aiming at the problem of the traditional ecological footprint model of Wackemagel and Rees that can not reflect the integrality of the ecological system. Based on value of ecosystem services function theory, this proposed ecological model utilizes value assessment of ecosystem services of ecologically productive land, improving assessment method of equivalence factor and yield index of the traditional ecological footprint model. The improved model reflects not only occupation of regional productive lands caused by human resource consumption, but also occupation of ecosystem services of land caused by human resource consumption. A case study was conducted in Dalian City based on data in 2005 to prove the rationality of the model proposed in this study.关键词
