Overview of Studies on Densovirus
摘要
Abstract
Densoviruses （DNVs） have been classified as a separate subfamily, the Densovirinae, within the family of Parvoviridae. These nonenveloped, icosahedral viruses package a linear, single stranded DNA of about 4-6 kb with terminal hairpins that are required for virus replication. The viruses only infect invertebrate species. This paper reviewed the genome expression strategies in the virus, host-range determinants, insect resistance mechanism against the virus, and potential application of the virus in the control of pest in the fields of public health and agriculture. In addition, this paper summarized the potential threats of the virus to economic invertebrate animals.关键词
