Analysis of the Citation of 11 Journals of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To analyze the paper and citation of 11 journals of traditional Chinese medicine in 2009, to study the citation characteristics and reveal the pattern that the authors access and use literature information, with the aim to draw the authors and editors' attention to the importance of citation norms. METHODS: A bibliometric analysis was conducted to study 11 journals of traditional Chinese medicine and its papers of 120 issue in 2009. The citation volume, citation type, citations language and the year distribution of citations were analyzed statistically, and Price Index and the average self-citation rate were computed. RESULTS: 5, 951 papers were published in 2009, of which, 5, 829 with a total of 52, 111 citations, the average citation rate was 97.95% , the average number of citations per article was 8.94. The main type of citations was journal literature, 44,218 accounting for 84.85% of the total citations; book 5,576, accounting for 10.70%; various standards 1,673, accounting for 3.21%; special literature 574, accounting for 1.10%; electronic document 70, accounting for 0.13%. Citations language are mainly Chinese,37,046 accounting for 71.09% ; followed by English, 14,970 accounting for 28.73% ; followed by Janpanese 25. As for the year distribution of the citations, 21,723 between 2004 and 2007, accounting for 41.69%. The Price Index was 40.35%, and the average self-citation rate was 4.59%. CONCLUSIONS: The authors have strong ability to access and use literature information, the majority of the citations are in Chinese.关键词
