Survey on the Tensional Status, Its Causes and Countermeasures of Nurse - Patient Relationship in Eight Chinese Provinces and Cities

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the current status of nurse - patient relationship in China and its influencing factors. Methods: A self - designed questionnaire is formulated based on common problems in current nurse -patient relationship to survey medical staff and patients in various levels of hospitals in eight Chinese provinces and cities. The investigated hospitals include IIIA level public hospitals, IIA level public hospitals, TCM hospitals, and private hospitals. Results: Survey results show that there is serious tension and mutual mistrust between nurses and patients. Main reasons for the nurse -patient tension include patients'excessive awareness of rights safeguarding , expensive medical expenditure, poor communication between medical staff and patients, and the biased publicity orientation of media. Conclusion: The relationship between nurses and patients is tensional in current medical service. Countermeasures to soothe the nurse - patient tension cover reshaping of the public welfare feature of health care according to realistic situation, rectification of the orientation of public opinion, and rebuilding of mutual trust between nurses and patients.关键词
