Abstract

Half-wavelength AC power transmission technology means that the electrical length between the sending and receiving ends is about one half of a power frequency wavelength. When the practical line length between the two ends is shorter than half wavelength, appropriate technology should be employed to increase the electrical length up to a half-wavelength. For this purpose, based on transmission line theory, two types of artificial compensation structure, I.e., the T-shaped structure and the II-shaped structure, are proposed. Based on actual parameters of a certain 1 000 Kv AC transmisson line, the compensation effects under different compensation lengths, number of compensation points and load characteristics are calculated and analyzed. Research results show that it is technically feasible to apply compensation to half-wavelength transmission line.
