Abstract
Objective To explore nursing experience of postoperative complications in elderly patients after total hip replacement (THR). Methods An analysis of case charts and complication observation was made retrospectively in 43 elderly patients who underwent THR. Results Under systemic rehabilitation and nursing, all of the 43 patients had an uneventful postoperative recovery at discharge. A significant improvement in hip function was observed during a telephone follow - up in a period ranging from 4 to 8 weeks. A high incidence of postoperative complication was usually associated with THR in elderly patients, however, good results in rehabilitation can be achieved through timely and standardized patient evaluation and nursing. Conclusion After the performance of THR in elderly patients, it is the responsibility of nursing staff to give more care to patient evaluation, timely estimation and prevention of the occurrence of early - stage complication. By the active means as stated above, both operative success rate and life quality of patients can be improved.关键词
