Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of using TwinFix suture anchors and modified Kessler technique to repair the old rupture of Achilles tendon. Methods 11 patients with the old rupture of Achilles tendon were treated by TwinFix suture anchors and modified Kessler technique. The tendon stumps were sutured with modified Kessler technique first, and then auxiliary TwinFix suture anchors were used to repair the tendons. After operation, the lower limb were immobilized with long plaster slab ( knee flexion 90°and ankle flexion 30° ). Another short plaster slab( ankle flexion )was used after 3 weeks. Results All patients were followed up for 3 months to 18 months. None of cases happened delayed healing of wound, infection, necrosis of skin and re-rupture of Achilles tendon. According to Arner-Lindholm score criteria, the results were excellent in 7 cases, good in 3 , and poor in 1. Conclusions The u-sing of TwinFix suture anchor and modified Kessler technique is a good method for repairing the old rupture of Achilles tendon.关键词
