Efficacy of less invasive stabilization system fixation for treatment of fractures of tibial plateau

Abstract

Objective To explore the clinical effect of using less invasive stabilization system( LISS ) to treat fractures of tibial plateau. Methods 60 cases of tibial plateau fractures were treated by LISS plate and anatomical plate, and each group had 30 cases. The operative time, blood loss, fracture healing time were observed in two groups. Results All patients were followed up for 7 ~ 33 months( average 17. 32 ± 5. 32 months ). The excellent and good rate was 86. 67% in LISS group, and 83. 33% in anatomical plate group, the differences were no statistically significant ( P > 0. 05 ). The LISS group had shorter operative time and less blood loss than anatomical plate group, and the differences were statistically significant ( P < 0. 01 ). No differences of the fracture healing time and postoperative weight-bearing time in two groups were found. The rate of postoperative complication( 3. 33% ) in LISS group was significantly lower than 23. 33% in anatomical plate group ( P <0. 05 ). Conclusions Efficacy of tibial plateau fractures with LISS plate or anatomical plate is equivalent, but the less intraoperative tissue damage, shorter operative time, less complication and more conducive to patient recovery is very obvious in LISS.
