Abstract

PP/POE/nano-SiO2 ternary composites were prepared through reactive compatibilization and melt blending method. The mechanical properties, crystal properties and processing performance of the composites containing with reactive compatibilizer PP-g-GMA were studied. The results show that a kind of ring-opening reaction occurs between PP-g-GMA and amino-modified nano-silica{NH2-Si02), and then the interface role and compatibility between PP matrix resin and nano-SiO2 enhances; nano-SiO2 disperses evenly in PP which contributes to heterogeneous nucleation of PP. When the mass ratio of PP/PP-g-GMA/POE/NH-SiO2 is 70/10/20/2, the impact strength of the composites is 52.9 kJ/m2 and the bending strength is 53.24 Mpa; the mechanical properties of the composites improve apparently compared with those of pure PP and PP/POE(80/20), and the spherulite size reduces significantly.
