Abstract

The current methods for predicting bank collapse are mostly empirical or semi-empirical, which simplify the influence of hydrogeological conditions and can not precisely depict the relationship between the bank collapse and the influence of groundwater. Considering the influence of the groundwater, two numerical methods, the limit equilibrium prediction method and the FLA3D method, are employed to predict the possibility of bank collapse in Dahlia landside of Dahuaqiao Reservoir, and a contrastive analysis is carried out with the traditional Kachugin method. It is shown that the results obtained by the limit equilibrium prediction method and the FLAC3D method are close and rational, and the numerical simulation for predicting bank collapse considering the influence of the groundwater is feasible and effective.
