Determination of Polysaccharides in Cauda Cervi of Two Different Species

Abstract
Polysaccharides were extracted from two species of cauda cervi by water hot reflux extraction, the protein was removed by trichloroacetic acid, and the sample was decolored by active carbon. The contents of the polysaccharides were determined by phenol-sulfu-ric acid colorimetry method at 486nm. The results showed that the polysaccharides content in cauda cervi of cervus nippon temminck was 4.70mg/g, while it was 5.86mg/g in cervus elaphus linnaeus. There were no distinct differences in cauda cervi of two species (P>0.05). With the character of simplify operation, reliable result and convenient application, the method can be effectively applied in the quality control of cauda cervi.关键词
