Abstract

Researches on shale gas reservoir characteristics are limited in China. This research conducted movable fluid tests with 34 core samples from different shale gas reservoirs using NMR technology based on conventional reservoir study concepts and investigation of a great number of literatures at home and abroad. The results indicate that shale gas reservoirs have less movable fluids and are heterogeneous; the percentage of movable fluids is correlated with porosity and permeability, and the higher the porosity and permeability, the closer the correlation is. The impact of the percentage of fractures and microfractures on the percentage of movable fluids is also analyzed. When the percentage of fractures and microfractures is over 2% , there is a good correlation with the percentage of movable fluids. Movable fluid percentage and fracture and microfracture percentage can be used to characterize and evaluate shale gas reservoirs for flow capability and development potential.
