Abstract
Metallic nanoparticles have some particular optical properties because of quantum size effect. It is very important and crucial to understand and research the optical properties of nanoparticles because of their various applications in biology, chemistry and new materials, etc. For the intermediate-size nanoparticles whose radius R in the range 0. 5 - 2. 5 nm, Landau damping is the dominant channel of energy decay. We formulate the research methods of the linewidth of surface plasmon resonance for spherical nanoparticles, and introduce the effects of size, temperature and dielectric environment on the linewidth. Moreover, we point out the hot spots of optical properties of nanoparticles in the recent years.关键词
