Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical value of core needle biopsy guided by ultrasonography in diagnosis of small breast mass. Methods Two to three biopsy samples were obtained for each lesion with Bard automatic biopsy gun and 18G coaxial cutting needle under real-time monitoring of ultrasonography. Results Biopsy specimens were obtained from 132 lesions of 132 patients . Of them 70 lesions had surgical specimen pathology confirmation. One case failed because of technology failure. Among the 69 cases could be analyzed, 18 cases were breast carcinoma, 1 case was cystosarcoma phyllodes, and 50 cases were benign lesions. The specificity and sensitivity of core needle biopsy guided by ultrasonography for diagnosing small breast cancer were 100% and 89.5%, respectively. Conclusions Ultrasound-guided core needle biopsy is a sensitive and highly specific method for the diagnosis of small breast mass.关键词
