Updates on diagnosis and treatment of allergic rhinitis
摘要
Abstract
Allergic rhinitis ( AR) is a chronic upper respiratory disease, which has increased in prevalence over the last few decades and currently affects over 500 million people all over the world. A recent study of self-reported AR in eleven major cities across mainland China demonstrated prevalence to range between 8. 7% ~ 24. 1 %. AR is an immunoglobulin E (IgE) -mediated, inflammatory disorder that leads'to nasal and ocular symptoms following allergen exposure. As in western countries,allergy to the house dust mite is one of the most common causes of AR in China. Allergen specific immunotherapy ( SIT) is an effective treatment for severe AR. Accelerated SIT build-up schedules, such as the cluster schedule, offer the advantage of reduced visits to a treatment centre, which saves patients time and expense.关键词
