Abstract

Well Xuwen-X3 is a key exploration well of SINOPEC, and it is a three intervals four targets high inclination directional well with the total depth 6,010 m and highest temperature 211 ℃. Severe mud loss is encountered when drilling in Weizhou formation with many micro-fractures. Through laboratory experiments, the polysulfonate water base drilling fluid system, can be used as high as 200 ℃, is developed to overcome some downhole problems such as borehole cleaning, lubricating and wellbore stability, and no pipe sticking happened even the drilling tool stayed in hole for over 70 hours.
