Influence of Reheating Parameters on Structure of Foamed Magnesium

Abstract
The two stage process on foaming magnesium was developed. The influence of reheating parameters including time and temperature on the structure of foamed magnesium was investigated to improve foaming quality. The experiment show that, through the adjustment of reheating temperature and time, foamed magnesium with low density, high porosity, well distributed holes can be manufactured by the two stage process, with the increase of reheating time or reheating temperature, the size of cells increases guadually, and the trend of merging of bubbles emerges; when the reheating time exceeds 20 min or the reheating temperature is beyond 610 ℃, the cells of the foamed magnesium shows an uneven distribution, the merging of bubbles emerges in the material. As rising reheating temperature or reheating time, the density of foamed magnesium decreases while the average porosity increases gradually. But when the reheating time exceeds 20 min, the density of foamed magnesium increases slightly while the average porosity declined slightly.关键词
