Abstract

Introduced are the principle of compass perforating technology and causes for its unsatisfied production increments. Developed is a new kind of set shoot angle compass perforator, which could shoot at the payzone principal stress direction and help us gain obvious production increments. Simulation test on the ground proves that it is feasible to perform set shoot angle compass perforating when the shooting angle is within 40°. Presented are the sketch figure for adjustable gun carrier and procedures for adjusting angles. Introduced are 3 different points between the set shoot angle perforating gun and compass perforating gun, that is, the former has less hole density, longer blind hole and even number charges. Advantages and disadvantages of set shoot angle compass perforator are illustrated in detail. Analyzed are applications of the perforator to pipe-conveying vertical well, pipe-conveying deviated well and cable-conveying deviated well. And also, the gun string characteristics are described. It is believed that the compass perforating technology in china is still in a development stage, and we still have many things to do. And pointed out is future research and development direction for the perforation technique.
