Abstract
Objective To compare the hyoid bone position between open bite and normal individuals. Methods Cephalograms of 30 open bite and 30 normal individuals in permanent dentition were retrospectively investigated by computerized cephalometric analysis, and the position of hyoid bone was evaluated in vertical and horizontal dimensions. Results Comparing with normal group, the position of open bite group was in line with normal group in vertical dimension. But in horizontal dimension, the hyoid bone was more backward in items of HA-C3 and HA-CVP. Conclusion There were statistical differences in hyoid position in horizontal dimensions between open bite and normal individuals.关键词
